I've been away for a year now. I still come back here to take a peek every now and then - and end up sitting there wondering why I haven't written anything. Maybe it's because I understand that noone wants to read just another blog. I have tried not to let this become just another blog - and I have failed.

Anyway, I came back to share this little piece with you - Head, Heart from Lydia Davis’s Varieties of Disturbance:

Heart weeps.

Head tried to help heart.

Head tells heart how it is, again:

You will lose the ones you love. They will all go. But even the earth will go, someday.

Heart feels better, then.

But the words of head do not remain long in the ears of heart.

Heart is so new to this.

I want them back, says heart.

Head is all heart has.

Help, head. Help heart.

Inspirational work. I wish I could write like this. Hell, I wish I could write.

  1. Well, dont give up on the muse... keep writing, and the readers will be there. They may not always comment but they'll read it... as long as you write.

    I agree with Ashish!

  3. actually, youll be suprised at how many people want to 'read just another blog'. lots of people with not much time on their hands out there

  4. Thank you for your comments, though I think ammaro meant to say "lots of people with much time on their hands"?

Also, if any one has other examples of good prose poetry I'd like to hear them.
